SkinPen is an FDA approved device that creates controlled microscopic channels in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This process includes remodeling and rejuvenation of the skin.
Three phases of the skin renewal process:
-inflammation: when the needles penetrate the skin’s surface, a natural healing response occurs to disinfect, remove debris, increase blood flow, and activate the creation of new tissue.
-proliferation: rebuilding with new granulation cells, formation of new network of blood vessels to nourish the healing skin during the process of regeneration
-remodeling: new tissue forms, rich in collagen and elastin proteins, which improve overall skin quality
Following a series of treatments, most patients notice:
SkinPen microneedling is safe for all skin types. Commonly, the face and neck are treated; however, the treatment can also be used on other areas of the body to treat scarring, stretch marks, and crepey skin. The variable needle depth allows for versatility and personalization of each treatment by the administering provider.

The number of procedures required will be based upon your individual goals and the overall health of your skin. Most patients undergo a series of three treatments spaced about four weeks apart.
The natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress through the course of several weeks. Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. Many people report an immediate improvement to the quality and appearance of their skin and the full benefits of the treatment continue up to six months following your final session.
This treatment has minimal to mild downtime. Typically the skin is pink/red for approximately 24 to 48 hours following the treatment, followed by a few days of dryness and flaking.
