Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) can be used to rejuvenate the skin and promote cell renewal by harnessing the power of the body’s own growth factors and healing properties.

The process of a PRP treatment involves taking a sample of your own blood into a tube, spinning the tube in a centrifuge to separate the PRP, and then injecting the PRP into areas of concern. PRP contains nutrient rich cells and protein growth factors and has many applications.

At Essence, we use PRP for the following treatments:

• injected into the face to promote skin health and decrease lines/wrinkles by stimulating collagen production; common areas include the tear troughs (under the eyes), nasolabial folds, perioral lines, and cheeks
• injected into the scalp for hair restoration
• applied during a SkinPen microneedling treatment or following an Opus Plasma treatment; incorporating PRP during/after ablative or invasive treatments can enhance the results by using your own body’s healing and growth factors.
