Botox and Dysport are FDA approved neuromodulators that have the same active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A. Botox and Dysport are injected into the muscle to temporarily reduce muscle movement. Over time, repeated contractions of muscles can cause lines and wrinkles to form. When muscle movement is reduced with neuromodulators, current lines and wrinkles can be softened, and formation of new lines and wrinkles can be prevented. Neuromodulators can also be used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis) and jaw discomfort.
At Essence, we understand that everyone’s concerns and goals are different when it comes to aesthetic treatments. We listen to your concerns and goals, perform a thorough assessment, and develop a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to your individualized goals and desired outcomes. Our passion is creating beautiful and natural results with our treatments!
Each person requires individualized dosing. We must assess your muscle movement and strength; to do this, we will evaluate your various expressions. Our experienced providers will make recommendations for injection placement and dosing. Dosing can range from around 30 units for a couple of areas to 70 units for a full face treatment. We generally do not advise treating just one area; this can result in an unnatural appearance, as well as cause increased recruitment of other muscles to compensate. We believe that a full face sprinkle provides the most natural and harmonized result!
Effects will start to become noticeable in 2 to 5 days; the peak effect is approximately 2 weeks following treatment.
When dosed appropriately, neuromodulator treatments should last 3 to 5 months, sometimes longer. Each person has variables in their metabolism and lifestyle, which can affect the duration of effects. We highly recommend establishing a neuromodulator maintenance schedule to maintain optimal results.
